Kindergarten through second grade is an exciting learning time for children. They start to ask more questions, understand cause and effect, and make connections between ideas. They also begin to plan ahead, manage their emotions, think about how their actions affect others, and navigate social situations. They continue to develop their oral language skills, learn new vocabulary, and use more complex sentences. Their attention spans increase so that they may be able to pay attention to something interesting for at least thirty minutes and they begin to understand concepts of space, time, and dimension.
